The Closing Process: What Can You Afford?
It is highly recommended that a prospective buyer of an affordable housing unit determine very early on in the process precisely what they can comfortably afford to buy. This is usually based on what the purchase price of the desired home is, a qualified lender's determination of what the buyer can afford, based on household income and debt, the monthly costs of maintaining the new home (e.g. taxes, insurance, utilities) and the individual's own comfort level.
